Currently, the outbreak and spread of COVID-19 around the world is affecting the global economy. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, China and ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore have come to understand, support, and learn from each other, contributing to the steady recovery of the regional economy. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, P. R. China on July 14, in the first half of 2020, total imports and exports between China and ASEAN reached 2.09 trillion yuan, with an increase of 5.6% year on year and accounting for 14.7% of China’s total foreign trade volume. ASEAN has become China’s largest trading partner.
Meanwhile, we have witnessed the huge impacts and great challenges brought by COVID-19 to China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation. Currently, the pandemic has also resulted in order cancellation, reduced demands, and logistics difficulties confronting many SMEs in China and ASEAN. To further promote economic exchanges between China and ASEAN countries, reduce the adverse impacts of COVID-19 on enterprises, and help enterprises develop transnational economy, China Shippers’ Association and China-ASEAN Business Association plan to jointly hold the First China-ASEAN Online Trade Fair from September 11 to 13, 2020. Leading News Era (Beijing) Culture Media Co., Ltd. and Malaysia Guoao Trade Promotion Co., Ltd. will be the organizers.
